Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Friday is going to be a busy day at St Michael’s with our Diversity Dash and The Art exhibition.
DIVERSITY DASH
The Diversity Dash will begin at 9:20 with Foundation, Grade 1 & 2 completing the Asphalt Area Perimeter Walk & Obstacle Course whilst Grades 3, 4, 5 & 6 will do a School Outer Perimeter Walk and Run.
There will be colourful music stations where students have the opportunity to take a break, have a dance and be sprayed with colour! The junior course will also have an obstacle course included in their laps. Colour is optional and students wishing to take part MUST wear a white t-shirt during the Diversity Dash and bring their school polo top and spare shorts to change at the conclusion of the event!
Thank you to those who have volunteered to help out with this event. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
ART EXHIBITION
Our school art exhibition and family afternoon will be held between 1:50 and 3:00pm. We invite families (parents, grandparents, siblings) to take this opportunity to view a showcase of art that the children have created throughout the year. Art activities will be occurring in all classes across the afternoon and family members are invited to join with their child to complete these. Please take note of the following organisational details for the day:
- Entry will be via the gates in Seymour Street. All visitors will be required to sign in on arrival. To cater for the number of visitors we anticipate, there will be multiple points throughout the school for this sign in to occur. Visitors are recommended to have a mobile phone to ensure this process runs smoothly.
- To manage the number of people viewing the art show at one time, visits into the art show will be timetabled based on surnames. Families can choose to join in art activities while they wait for their turn to visit the exhibition or plan their arrival closer to the scheduled time. The approximate times for these visits are as follows:
2.00 pm |
Families with a surname between A- G |
2.20 pm |
Families with a surname between H - O |
2.40 pm |
Families with a surname between P- Z |
If you are unable to join us on Friday to view the exhibition, we will have additional times available to visit the exhibition before and after school. These times will be:
Friday 18th November (3:00 - 3:45pm)
Monday 21st November (3:20-3:45pm)
Wednesday 23rd November (3:20-3:45pm)
Thursday 24th November (8:30 - 8:50am and 3:20 - 3:45pm)

REMEMBRANCE DAY
ITALIAN DAY
On Monday the 21st of November, a magician will be coming to the school to perform an Italian show for the children. Then on the 5th of December, the school will celebrate an Italian cultural day. A number of things will happen on this day.
Some simple ideas are as follows:
- a pizza chef - just need a pizza box and an apron
- a gondolier driver - a stripey top and black pants
- gelato (ice cream) - a colourful wig with brown clothing
- a Carnevale participant- a mask (can be made or Spotlight has some)
- a soccer player - soccer top and soccer ball
- a painter like Michelangelo - school art smock or old shirt and a paintbrush
- any clothing with the Italian colours (red, white green) - some children wear green sports tops on sports day and all children have a red polo shirt.
- An Italian flag
On this day, the children will experience another cultural show and will also be invited to taste some gelati. If your child is not able to have gelati because of health issues, please contact Carla Scholtes on the email address below to arrange an alternative. We usually also have available gluten free sorbet, such as Gelativo or Weis from Woolies but please let her know if your child will need this. The gelati will be served in cups, not cones. Kind regards,
When reading this Sunday's readings people might be tempted to launch into a tirade a ‘fire and brimstone’. However, if we look at the positive aspects of the readings, we will see that our God is loving and forgiving. God wants us to remain faithful to him, just as God is faithful to us. God loves us and has a place ready for us for all eternity. If we remain faithful then we need not fear the end of time.

On Friday 11th November the 5/6 students gathered together to raise money for the goat farm in Ethiopia. We got together in small groups and came up with an idea for a stall. Some stalls had games such as ring toss, basketball and longest kick. Others were shops where you could buy things such as lollies, cookies, slime and bracelets. We would like to give a big thankyou to all families of children who were able to support us. After a very successful day we were able to raise over $2650!
