Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
It was a wonderful celebration for Fr. Peter’s 50th Jubilee of being a priest and it was lovely to see so many families able to be there, He was appreciative of all the support and well wishes. The display in the hall will be up for a little bit longer if you wanted to see the artwork the children put together for him.

PARISH NEWS
Sunday was Trinity Sunday. The word Trinity refers to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - and is a word that is used to explain the relationship between the 3. To describe the Trinity as a ‘mystery’ really does not offer a decent explanation. However, a theological ‘mystery’ is defined as something that not only are we incapable of discovering except through divine revelation, but that even when its truth has been fully revealed, we are incapable of fully grasping it. Our understanding can never be any more than partial, even when we fully accept it. This is a concept with which our world struggles – that there is something that is not fully able to be known but it’s OK not to fully understand it.
In Sunday’s gospel, Jesus instructs the disciples to go out to all the nations and baptise them ‘in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit’ is an instruction that is still being carried on today. Those precise words are used by the priest at every baptism. They are also the words used in the sign of the cross – whether that is a personal, private blessing of oneself or a blessing of a group as in the introductory and dismissal rites as part of a Eucharistic celebration. When we make the sign of the cross, naming each part of the Trinity, we use Jesus’ words.
Each week students from each class are awarded Student of the Week certificates. These children are nominated for the example they have been within the school based on the School Wide Expectation focus for that week. The weekly focus will be from Wednesday until Tuesday the following week. Awards will be presented to students in their classrooms on Friday.
In Week 7 the School Wide Expectation focus is Safety:

Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and St. Michael’s Primary School is excited to be participating. The PRC application offers a range of exciting features including:
- access to a library catalogue (including book images and blurbs)
- a modern user-friendly interface
- rewarding students with badges as challenge milestones are achieved
- the option for students to mark books as a favourite, give them a star rating or complete a book review
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 6 September 2024.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.
