Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
How lucky were we with the weather on Friday for the Athletics Day, neither too hot or too cold! The day ran very smoothly and we thank all those who were able to help on the day as well as all the offers to help. The students had a great day and were able to watch and cheer on their teams and classmates. It was lovely to hear students congratulating each other and showing outstanding sportsmanship towards each other throughout the day.

Tutor Learning Program
As you may be aware, the Victorian Government has provided funding for schools to implement a Tutor Learning Program. Schools across the state have received varying amounts of funding to be used to provide support for students whose learning has been impacted throughout periods of remote learning.
There are a number of important considerations that must be taken into account before embarking on this initiative. Firstly, and most importantly, we need to ensure we accurately identify student need and determine whether a student would benefit from this support. On the basis of this information we can then determine the best approach to meet the needs of all of our students.
In order to begin the Tutor Learning Program, we also need to ensure we have appropriate staffing. The school is currently in the process of employing new staff to undertake this work.
The Tutor Learning Program is for the 2021 school year and we are determined to ensure it has the best opportunity to have a positive impact on our students
Kind regards
Jodie
St Michael's School Parents & Friends Association Annual General Meeting
St Michael’s Parents & Friends Association
1st February 2021
Dear Parents,
The St Michael’s Parents & Friends Association meets monthly to coordinate fundraising activities and social gatherings like the Walkathon, Mothers and Fathers day stalls, school disco and social nights.
It is an important part of the school as it generates much needed funds for the school. These funds are used to enhance and beautify the grounds, to purchase equipment, furniture and educational programs. P&F offer lots of opportunities to be involved – no matter what your interest is, how much time you have to spare or what skills you can offer. Please take the time to think about what you can do to support your school community and show your children that their school is important to you as well. All of our children benefit from our fundraising activities and without more parental support our ability to raise funds will diminish.
The meetings are quite informal and are a good opportunity to hear about developments within the school as Jodie (Principal) or Lia (Deputy Principal) attend each meeting. If you would like to know more about P&F please contact: myself, Jodie, Lia or the school office.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on 4th March at 7pm in the staffroom. So come and make yourself a cuppa and join us. You will be warmly welcomed and will meet some terrific parents.
We really need more parent help to keep the committee going. Your consideration of taking on a position on the P&F committee or being a general member or someone who helps out when needed would be greatly appreciated. Some roles will be vacated at the AGM and it is vital that passionate people fill them. Please see the attached Nomination Form.
For any further information or questions please text or phone Deb on 0417 014 175
Yours sincerely,
Deb Rowley

In this week's Gospel Peter, James and John witness Jesus transfiguring himself into a heavenly presence. Elijah and Moses appear before them and converse with Jesus. The disciples were amazed at this sight but they heeded Jesus' warning to say nothing of what they saw until after “the son of man had risen from the dead.” Talk with your children about the power of having Jesus on our side, and the prize that awaits us if we stay on his “team”. Remember this is the season of Lent, it is time to grow closer to God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
St Michael's Netball Committee AGM is on Wednesday 10th March at 7pm in the staffroom. All netball parents welcome.
