Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Last Friday I had the pleasure to listen to a group of grade five children who presented a speech to their teachers and peers about why they would be a suitable candidate to be school captain. All the speeches showed a lot of thought and preparation had gone into them and they were of a very high standard. Whilst only some children can be chosen to this role there are other opportunities for student leadership at St Michael’s including House Captain, Environmental Team and Student Leadership committee and I encourage those who missed out a school captain role to consider nominating for one of these roles.
I am pleased to say that the following students have been chosen to be the 2022 school captains:
- Adam Hurley
- Beth Wallace
- Grace Robinson
- Harry Wight
- Jakeb Domagala
Congratulations to them and I look forward to working with them next year.
I would also like to congratulate this year’s school and house captains on their work this year. Millie Bermingham, Aine Doherty, Nelson Archibald, Ruby Campbell, Mal Quail, Anna Linehan, Wil Hamilton, Matt McDonagh, Taite Crosby, Bella McIntosh, Eli Addison, Amily Smith, Aleksandra Poursanidis, Mia Hollands, Darby Murtagh, Hudson Anderson, Jonny Roscoe, Williow Whitwam, Violet Blackford and Hunter Bishoff. You have been outstanding representatives of St Michael’s this year.
Parents and Friends Update
The Parents and Friends group play an important role at this school with organising family events, fundraising and running things like the hot lunches. The past two years have proved difficult for this group with restrictions severely limiting what they were able to do however they have still managed to fundraise for additional playground equipment for the 3/4 playground. This is due to start construction next week and we (especially the grade 3/4 children!) thank them for their support.
A number of existing committee members have begun full time work during this year and as such are unable to continue on this committee. We are looking for new people to join this group and help out. If you would like to be involved please fill in the form below:

We are committed to supporting families experiencing financial challenges through our School Fee Concession programs, and encourage any parent/carer/guardian experiencing difficulties to contact us regarding fee assistance.
Fee payers who have recently qualified for a Centrelink Concession Card should communicate with the school at their earliest convenience to determine eligibility for a Category One Centrelink Concession Card Concession.

The season of Advent is here! Sunday was the first Sunday of Advent, we now begin our preparation for the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ. Our readings tell us that we must stay awake and be ready; we must prepare ourselves for the Lord. Advent, however, is not just a season of preparing and waiting but it is a season of getting up and getting ready…… getting ready for the birth of Jesus, getting ready to celebrate the coming of our Lord. At school we gather around the Advent Wreath as a focal point for this time. The circle of the wreath reminds us that God's love is eternal and unending. The candles are a sign of the light of Christ - we begin by lighting one of the purple candles. This is a busy time of year. We prepare to welcome guests into our home as we gather and celebrate together …. we clean our house, we prepare food, we buy gifts. Talk with your children about what you can do to prepare for Jesus? Could you donate your time or food to someone in need? Could you help a neighbour or a friend? Maybe you can reach out to someone who is alone this Christmas… whatever it is that you do, remember that Jesus is the reason that we celebrate the season.
2021 Christmas Appeal
Dear Families,
St. Michael’s Primary School has generously supported St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years through our food and gift collections.
Leading up to the festive season St Vincent de Paul make Christmas Hampers for families in our local community who are in need of support, particularly at this time of year. Leading up to the end of the year and Christmas we ask our school families to donate some festive items to assist Vinnies make their Christmas hampers.
These donations might include: Christmas food, serviettes, wrapping paper, bon bons etc. Consider donating the items that bring joy into your household during this special time of the year.
We ask that the children bring a donation to school by Friday 10th December so that we, once again, support this important cause.
Thank you for your continuous spirit of giving.
