Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Welcome to the 2022 school year! We hope you have had a relaxing break and are refreshed and ready for this year. It was lovely to see the happy, smiling faces of the children as they saw their friends and teachers.
Yesterday you would have received the first two weeks supply of Rapid Antigen Tests. We appreciate your support in helping us to abide by the current guidance from the government in testing your child/ren twice a week.
Reporting and Managing positive results
If a student receives a positive test result at any time, they must:
- Parents, guardians or carers must advise the School.
- Parents, guardians or carers are required to register the result on the COVID-19 Positive Rapid Antigen Test Self-Reporting Form available on the Coronavirus Victoria website as soon as possible.
- Students who report a positive result must isolate for seven days and not attend school during that period.
- Where a student is a household contact of a positive case (that is, they have spent more than four hours with someone who has COVID-19 inside a house, accommodation, or care facility) they must inform the school and isolate for seven days and not attend school during that period.
- Ensure students refrain from returning to school if they are symptomatic, unless it is known that their symptoms are caused by an underlying health condition or medication.
Parent Access Module (PAM)
You will have received an email last night regarding setting up PAM. We have moved our attendance and reporting package to SIMON of which PAM is the parent communication tool. It allows parents to report absences directly into the software which reduces the double handling that has previously been occurring. School reports will also be accessible using PAM
Foundation families can use PAM now to book a time to bring their child to attend an assessment interview on Wednesdays.
Face Masks at School
In accordance with requirements from the Victorian Government, all staff and students in Grades 3 to 6 attending St Michael’s Primary School are required to wear a face mask when indoors, including when travelling to and from school on public transport, taxis or ride share vehicles and when attending Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) programs, unless a lawful exemption applies.
Parents, guardians and carers are required to supply their child(ren) with an appropriate face mask that covers the nose and mouth. If a child presents without a mask, parents will be contacted to bring a mask to school for your child to wear. Please consider providing a small supply of spare face masks in a labelled zip lock bag for your child so they can be stored by the classroom teacher.
Shade sails Grant
At the end of last year we were successful in obtaining a grant to put shade sails over the quiet area. Work started on the holidays with the removal of two trees from this area. We will be redoing the space with new gardens and seating once the shade sails are in which will provide an updated space for recess and lunch times and provide an outdoor learning space for grades to use during the day.
Kind regards
Jodie
Lk 4:21 - 30
In this week’s gospel Jesus returns to Nazareth, where he lived as a child. The people in Nazareth knew Jesus as the son of Mary and Joseph, an ordinary carpenter. When Jesus visited the temple and began referring to himself as the ‘one’ that the prophet Isaiah’s foretold would come, the people of Nazareth became angry. Often our ears are closed to things that we are not comfortable hearing - even Jesus was not accepted in his hometown. How do you think Jesus felt knowing that his own community did not accept him as anything other than an ordinary carpenter? He probably felt sad and disappointed that they were not willing to listen and believe his message. Jesus brought the message of God’s love to be shared with everyone, whatever their race or colour might be. Today, some two thousand years later, we share the same message of God’s love with everyone. What can we do in our family, our workplace, our community to be the bearer of this message? How can we brighten someone else's day?
