News from the Principal
Dear Parents, Guardian and Carers,
We hope you all had a wonderful break and welcome you back to a jam packed Term 4. We start the term with 5/6 swimming, Year 3 Big Day Out, shortly followed by the Year 3/4 swimming program. There is something happening each week in Term 4, so the best way to keep up to date with what is happening at school is through this newsletter and our school app. We frequently update the school calendar so you can keep track of events, excursions, sporting activities and a whole lot more.
School Concert - Tuesday 19th November at the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre.
Matinee performance - 1:30pm show (no ticket restrictions)
Night performance- 6:00pm show (ticket restrictions per family will apply)
The children will begin rehearsing their item for the school concert this week. Stomp Dance Co. will be at school over the next five weeks preparing the children for an amazing performance. I’d also like to thank Mrs Ashlea Vanyai for her time in preparing and working with the main characters of the show. As a local performer with lots of experience on the stage, Ashlea brings a wealth of knowledge and we are so lucky to have her mentoring and working with our cast. We are still finalising costs and as such have not released ticketing information as yet. These will come out in the next two weeks.
Open Classroom Afternoon - Thursday October 17th
At St Michael’s we have four days set aside in Term 4 whereby students will spend time in other classroom areas to help ease some of the concerns they may have about next year. In addition to this, some children have already begun the process of walking through classroom blocks, taking in similarities and differences and having the opportunity to ask questions about what next year might look like for them.
Another way in which we would like to support these transitions is to have an Open Classroom afternoon which will take place on Thursday 17th October from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. This is an opportunity for you as parents and carers to come along and check out their learning spaces for next year and ask any questions of teachers that you or your child may be thinking about 2025. There won’t be any set activities, but this is rather a casual time for you and your child to explore and view other classrooms areas; something that we know is particularly important for those heading into grade 1, grade 3 and grade 5 as these students are in completely different buildings.
Important dates:
- 10th October - Grade 6 class photo

- 15th October - Year 3 Big Day Out excursion

Kind regards,
Lia Dicorleto - Acting Principal
