News from the Principal
Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
Last week we had some students represent St Michael’s at the State Swimming Championships in Melbourne. To get to this level is an amazing achievement and we are so proud of you all. We had some spectacular results!
Hannah Rochstad- Lim placed 7th in the 50m Breaststroke
Hayden Rawson - placed 2nd in the 50m Freestyle
Relay Team ( Hayden Rawson, Riley O’Mara, Poppy Howe and Xander Szkwarek) placed 3rd in the 4x50m Freestyle relay.
Congratulations to all the students and their families who I know were there to cheer them along. Thank you to Ms Michelle Coates, our PE co-ordinator, who also supported the group.
Grade 5/6 School Camp
Next week, we say goodbye to our Year 5/6s as they head off for school camp in Ballarat. The children will be visiting Sovereign Hill, and I am hopeful one will find the elusive gold nugget! Organising a camp takes many weeks and requires the assistance of many teachers. The to-do list before any camp is never ending, including risk assessments, compliance paperwork, group allocations, daily timetables, medication lists and right down to making lanyards so the children can be identifiable. I am very lucky to have teachers who are committed to ensuring that your child’s camp experience is positive and the best that it can be. I am grateful for the work done behind the scenes by the Year 5/6 team, Sharon Scholtes and Michelle Coates.
When the Year 5/6s return, they jump straight into the Water Safety and Swimming Program beginning Monday 19th May.
Thanks to Parents and Friends Group
Each week I am comforted by the amazing parent community we have here at St Michaels. I would like to acknowledge the work of the Parent’s and Friends Group who have organised a lovely Mother’s Day stall for all of the students being held this Friday 9th May. A thank you to the many local businesses who generously donated gifts for our Mother’s Day raffle.
Finally, I wish all Mums, Grandmother’s and special persons a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday. We are so blessed to have you all.
