News from the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

The classrooms are a hive of excitement and joy as the Grade 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6  children are busily rehearsing for their Latrobe Valley Eisteddfod items. Please refer to the permission note that went home last week with further details of the day, including the time of your child’s performance. All students are required to wear their winter uniform, and they are most welcome to change into their sports uniform if they have a sports lesson on the day.

Shout out for packing boxes

We would be very appreciative of any strong packing boxes that you are no longer needing at home. In preparation for moving our library, we require strong cardboard boxes in good condition. If you have any, we would love to take them off your hands. Please drop them into the front office.

TheirCare

Please join us on Wednesday 20th August at 7pm for an online information session with TheirCare. TheirCare will be joining us as the new before and after school care provider and this session will be important for those wishing to utilise the service in the near future. You can access the zoom link in the flyer located further on this newsletter, or from the email sent to all families yesterday.

TheirCare will also be present at the Junior Athletics Carnival on Friday with a coffee van and show bags with information about their service. Be sure to drop past.

Junior Athletics Carnival

This Friday we welcome all parents and special visitors to the Junior Athletics Carnival being held in the school yard from 11:30am to 1pm. The Foundation to Grade 2 students will participate in a selection of rotations that have been developed by our student leaders. The students leaders have placed a lot of thought into the activities and have been supported by our Sports teacher, Michelle Coates.

Gates will open from 11:20am. Unfortunately we cannot open them any earlier due it being the children’s play time. We ask that parents remain in the playground, and grades will meet outside to receive their instructions. As a special treat, a coffee van has been arranged by TheirCare and will be located at the back of the playground, near the garden shed.

Please refer to the email sent to all families last week for further details. We look forward to a wonderful afternoon.

Parking around the school

We have been contacted by Latrobe City Council Local Laws and have been asked to remind parents about parking in designated parking bays at school drop off and pick up times. We are aware that a number of parents have received fines for parking in the driveway in front of the church, in Church Street. Latrobe City has advised that they will continue to fine parents parking in unmarked areas, and encourage parents to use the car park located across the road, or further down the street.

If parking on the opposite side of the road, please do not call your child to run across the street in traffic. Please walk across the road and supervise your child crossing the street.

19th August - Reconciliation Parent Workshop
20th August - TheirCare Parent Information session online
