Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,

The end of the school year is creeping closer and the children and teachers are working hard to maintain the focus on learning. With the easing of restrictions, we hope to be able to enjoy some of our end of year traditions as a whole school.

Our first three Foundation transition groups attended St Michael’s for the first-time last Friday. They all had a wonderful time with no sign of nerves or tears. Due to COVID restrictions we have had to run these sessions a little differently than previous years with small groups coming in. The children seemed to enjoy the opportunity to get to know new friends for next year. These will continue over the next two weeks to allow all the 2021 Foundation children to visit the school before the end of year.

We also heard last week that the school crossing in Kay St is being upgraded to a lighted zebra crossing. After speaking to the Latrobe City Traffic Management Engineer we have been advised that the crossing will not be manned by a crossing supervisor. We have concerns regarding the safety of this crossing operating without a supervisor and have been following this up with Latrobe City Council. The School Advisory Board are in the process of writing a letter that we will also forward onto relevant people involved in making this decision.

Our grade 6 Confirmation candidates will be receiving this sacrament at Masses this week.
