This gospel is from the last Sunday of the church’s year. It is the feast of Christ the King. As the year draws to an end, we turn our thoughts to the time when Christ will return as a king. This gospel provides a template for living as a follower of Christ - feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked. The trick is to be able to see Christ in everyone - now there is a challenge for all of us! If we fill our lives with love and kindness, seeing Jesus in each person we meet and always treating others with kindness and respect, then our goodness will never be forgotten.
