Education in Faith

Lk 24:35 - 48
The theme in the readings on the Third Sunday of Easter is about conversion and witness. We are called not only to follow Jesus, but to bear witness about the Christian story of death and resurrection. Is it easy for you to recognise Jesus? Do you recognise Him in other people? In the Eucharist? In this week's Gospel even the disciples, his closest friends, had trouble recognising the risen Jesus. Jesus appeared to his disciples saying “Peace be with you,” and he told them not to be afraid. The disciples had to be shown the wounds on Jesus’ hands and feet before they would believe that it was really the risen Lord. Jesus then went on to say “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe”. We may not have seen all these things with our own eyes but we believe. Each of us can be a witness for Christ by living the way that Jesus showed us.
