Education in Faith

Jn 18: 33 - 37

This weekend we celebrated the Feast of Christ the King. Jesus is king, but his kingdom is not of this world. The Jewish leaders had witnessed the way that Jesus was welcomed as he entered Jerusalem and they were afraid of his position and power, so they plotted to have Jesus arrested and sentenced to death. People who do not belong to Jesus do not recognise him - other things rule their lives. We all have things in our lives that seem to push Jesus aside. Are we so concerned with money, possessions that we lose sight of the things that are important to us? How much is enough, or enough that we can share? What about our family? Does the time we spend with them hold an important place in our lives? Can we make a decision to put Jesus first in our lives?

Dear Families,

St. Michael’s Primary School has generously supported St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years through our food and gift collections.

Leading up to the festive season St Vincent de Paul make Christmas Hampers for families in our local community who are in need of support, particularly at this time of year. Leading up to the end of the year and Christmas we ask our school families to donate some festive items to assist Vinnies make their Christmas hampers.

These donations might include: Christmas food, serviettes, wrapping paper, bon bons etc. Consider donating the items that bring joy into your household during this special time of the year.

We ask that the children bring a donation to school by Friday 10th December so that we, once again, support this important cause.

Thank you for your continuous spirit of giving.

Sue Rickwood
