Today’s gospel is the beginning of the ‘Sermon on the Mount’. The crowd followed Jesus to the side of the mountain wanting to hear him preach, many of them wanting to be healed. Jesus explained to the crowd that true happiness comes from trusting God, allowing his love to fill our lives. When we know that we are loved so much, we cannot help but share it with others. It is through giving that we receive! Worldly possessions and riches do not last forever, but God’s love does and it is worth more than anything else. One of the greatest gifts that we can give our children is to share our faith with them. Life is unpredictable, as we all know, and often it is our faith that will give us the strength to continue through the hard times.
