Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians, 

This term students will be back wearing their summer uniform. We allow a two week change over period to allow families to catch up on restocking and sourcing the current uniforms; as most children will have outgrown their summer uniforms from Term 1. 

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all families about our school uniform policy. At St Michael’s, we take pride in our presentation and the way in which we wear our uniform. We ask that all parents help support us by encouraging your child to wear the correct uniform in the right way. 

To help students feel comfortable in their learning and play environments, we ask that summer dresses are of an appropriate length. We also ask that the black sports shorts are of an appropriate length and do not have any logos on them. Black running shorts (often with slits up the side) and bike shorts are not appropriate for school. 

Finally, students are required to wear black school shoes or black sneakers on days they wear their summer and winter uniform. Other sneakers must only be worn on days where students are wearing their sports uniform. Converse high tops are not appropriate shoes for school and should be saved for special casual clothes days. 

We understand that some families may still be sourcing or purchasing uniforms, and recognise that this may take some time. Please reach out to the school office if you are experiencing difficulties with uniforms as there may be some in stock in our second hand uniform store. 

As per our Sun Smart Policy, students and staff are required to wear a hat when outside at all times. Hats can be purchased from the school office if you require a replacement.

Foundation to Year 1/2 Water Safety Program - change of date 

Due to GRAC availability, we have had to change the dates for the Foundation to Year 1/2 Swimming program. The program will be held from Monday 10th November to Thursday 13th November (inclusive) and the following week from Monday 17th November to Thursday 20th November (inclusive). This change is reflected in the school calendar. 

Assembly arrangements 

Due to the hall now being used as a 5/6 classroom, we can no longer use it for assemblies. The Leadership team are considering some options and this will be communicated with all families as soon as a decision has been made. Until then, all awards will be given out in classrooms.

Luke 17: 11 - 19

Sunday’s gospel is one of the stories unique to the gospel of Luke. At the same time, it is a commonly known story that is often cited to demonstrate the value of saying thank you. However, as usual, there’s more to this story than initially meets the eye. One of the recurrent themes of the gospel is at play here: the message of salvation that Jesus brings is available to all, not just the Jews.

Whilst the gospel tells stories about the healing of those with skin diseases, the common factor is actually about their expressions of gratitude and conversion of heart. In the gospel, all ten men are healed but it is only the stranger; the foreigner; the Samaritan, who comes back to give thanks and to praise God. The others – Jewish men, presumably – are only concerned about themselves and have no time to acknowledge the graciousness of God that they have experienced. The gospel writer has Jesus emphasise the point that it is the Samaritan – the outsider – who has recognised God’s activity in his cure and come back to give praise and thanks. It is only he who has experienced the change of heart; the conversion of faith.

‘The other nine, where are they?’ asked Jesus. Why would the other nine not have come back to give thanks? It is insufficient to say that the miraculous healing these men experienced changed their lives. Being healed of this disease meant so much to them: they could return to their families; they could return to work; they could touch another person; they could walk among other people; they could join in prayer at the synagogue. As they hurried back toward town they must have been overwhelmed by the possibilities and opportunities that lay before them. But they neglected to acknowledge the source of their great joy!

First Holy Communion

Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion is about to begin. If your child is in Grade 4 or above and is not yet enrolled to participate in the Sacrament this year please complete the form attached and return it to the Parish Office as soon as possible.

On Tuesday the 21st of October there is a Parent Meeting in the Parish Hall. Please be at the hall at 5:45pm ready for a 6pm start. This is an important part of the preparation for the sacrament, and we encourage a representative for each Candidate to attend.

Sacrament Enrolment Form 2025

On Friday 24th October, our Grade 5/6 students will be hosting the annual Market Day Stall! This year, our goal is to raise much-needed funds for Catholic Missions. The students have been working hard, bringing their business ideas to life and preparing a range of exciting items for sale, along with fun games to enjoy.

All students are encouraged to bring some money on the day to support this wonderful cause. Every purchase helps contribute to the fundraising effort, so we hope to see lots of enthusiasm for our Market Day! Thank you for supporting our students as they put their creativity and skills into action for a good cause.

We offer hot lunches weekly on a Monday with Munch Lunch. They are a local company that offer a variety of lunch items. 

Ordering is simple, download the Spriggy Schools app via your App Store or Google Play store, select St Michael's School,  add your children and their class to the app and place your order!  Lunches will then be delivered to school. Orders need to be placed by 9:00am on the day. You can pre order lunches 2 weeks in advance.
