There are still seats and tables available. Come along and join the fun, you might even like to challenge the teachers! Check out the flyer located further in this newsletter.
Children arriving late to school
I have mentioned this a number of times throughout the year, but again I need to remind all families about the importance of children being at school on time. Your child’s day starts at 8:55am, so they should be at school no later than 8:50am to allow them time to complete any classroom responsibilities and to connect with their friends.
When the children are late, they enter the classroom with worries and most often appear flustered because they have missed key messages from their teacher about how their day will look. Often being late is not the fault of students, and may require you as parents to leave home five to ten minutes earlier than usual. We know that sometimes it cannot be avoided, but we ask that all families please make an extra effort to get your children to school on time.
Casual Clothes Day - Celebrating Catholic Mission
We invite all students to wear casual clothes tomorrow, Wednesday 15th October in support of Catholic Missions. We would love a gold coin donation that will go towards raising funds for communities in Zambia to help ensure they have access to clean water and food.

Each week students from each class are awarded Student of the Week certificates. These children are nominated for the example they have been within the school based on the School Wide Expectation focus for that week. The weekly focus will be from Wednesday until Tuesday the following week. Awards will be given out in the classroom.
In Week 2 the School Wide Expectation focus is Respect:
I treat my peers, teachers and learning environment with respect.
I show appreciation for the efforts of others.
I speak kindly to others.
I show justice and fairness to all.
I listen carefully to others.

Luke 12: 13 - 21
Sunday's readings offer various aspects of prayer for our consideration. There is the spiritual discipline of prayer itself, which is essential to the life of the disciple: there is the communal dimension of prayer; and there is the ministerial commitment that is born of prayer. Our personal prayer must be persistent. Like Moses in the first reading and the woman in the gospel reading, we must be ceaseless in our prayer, not discouraged by difficulties that we might have to face.
A feature of the gospel of Luke is that the lowly and poor – represented here by the widow – are those who recognise their own condition and call on the mercy of God to lift them up. Jesus says that God will see justice done to those who cry out for God’s help. Jesus’ final comment about finding any faith on earth is a reminder that human beings have a tendency to think they can solve all their own problems and forget that they need God’s action in their lives. The faithful in the gospel of Luke are those who know that they are in need of God’s mercy and love and call out for it.
It is not God who needs our prayers, but we who have to recognise, through prayer, our need for God’s mercy and gracious love. The constancy of prayer is not to convince God but to remind ourselves of our dependence upon God.
First Holy Communion
Preparation for the Sacrament of First Holy Communion is about to begin. If your child is in Grade 4 or above and is not yet enrolled to participate in the Sacrament this year please complete the form attached and return it to the Parish Office as soon as possible.
On Tuesday the 21st of October there is a Parent Meeting in the Parish Hall. Please be at the hall at 5:45pm ready for a 6pm start. This is an important part of the preparation for the sacrament, and we encourage a representative for each Candidate to attend.
