Dear Parent, Guardians and Carers,
The last week of term!
Thank you for all you have done to support your child(ren) during this term, as a staff we appreciate it. We know how difficult it would be as you balance your own work commitments with remote learning.
It has been wonderful to have the children from Foundation, One and Two back onsite this week. They have enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with each other and their teachers. We are missing the children from three to six and hopefully over the holidays we get the news that they too can return to onsite school.
On Thursday we will be celebrating Footy Colours Day so all children whether at school or at home are invited to wear their football team’s colours and on Friday the Foundation children will be having their fairytale dress up day.
Enjoy the break from remote learning or school drop offs over the next two weeks, hopefully you can have some precious time together as a family and we will see you (hopefully!) all back at school on Monday 4th October.
Kind regards
Jodie

Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and St. Michael’s Primary School is excited to be participating. A new application is being used this year that offers a range of exciting features including:
- access to a library catalogue (including book images and blurbs)
- a modern user-friendly interface
- rewarding students with badges as challenge milestones are achieved
- the option for students to mark books as a favourite, give them a star rating or complete a book review
The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition; but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by 17 September 2021.
Children from Prep to Year 2 are encouraged to read or ‘experience’ 30 books with their parents and teachers. Children from Year 3 to Year 10 are challenged to read 15 books.
All children who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers.
