Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Today the 2022 Foundation students attended St Michael’s for their final transition session. It is an exciting time for the children and their families and we have enjoyed getting to know them over the past few weeks. The remaining grades will spend time on Monday with their 2022 class and teacher.
On the other hand, we farewell our grade 6 students this week as they have their last day on Friday 10th December. Notes have gone home to the grade 6 parents this week outlining the day. Highlights include opportunities to visit previous teachers and spaces within the school, a graduation Mass starting at 11am at St Michael’s Church, a special lunch in the hall and the hat throwing on the final bell. It is a lovely day for the staff, students and parents.
As this year ends, we must also sadly farewell some families who have had a long association with our school, as their youngest child completes grade six or they move to new places. I thank you for the many and varied ways in which you have been supporters and promoters of St Michael’s school.
May the blessing of God go before you.
May grace and peace abound.
May the Holy spirit live within you.
May love wrap you around.
May the blessing remain with you always.
May you walk on holy ground.
Amen
Kind regards
Jodie
Dear Parents,
Due to all the Covid restrictions, we were not able to have Italian week this year. However, the gelato was purchased, so on Thursday the 9th of December, we are giving the children an opportunity to taste some gelato. It will be served in a cup rather than a cone and we will be following all Covid safety rules. If your child is unable to have gelato, could you please let me know if there is an alternative I can get for your child. You can email me at cscholtes@stmtraralgon.catholic.edu.au.
Grazie mille
Maestra Carla
Lk 3: 1 - 6
On Sunday we celebrated the second Sunday of Advent and we read about John the Baptist telling us to turn back to God. God sent John to prepare the way for the saviour, he was the proclaimer of the coming of Jesus! John was filled with the Holy Spirit and had the courage to stand before the crowds. He was the “voice in the wilderness” as he baptised the people who wanted to start fresh and try to lead better lives. Advent, like Lent, is an opportunity for us to take stock of where we stand in our relationship with God and to think about what God wants of us. Advent is a time for all of us to prepare and change. It is a time to be more aware that we can encounter God in many unexpected ways. As we gather around the Advent candles let's reflect on how we can prepare for the birth of our saviour, Jesus Christ.
2021 Christmas Appeal
Dear Families,
St. Michael’s Primary School has generously supported St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years through our food and gift collections.
Leading up to the festive season St Vincent de Paul make Christmas Hampers for families in our local community who are in need of support, particularly at this time of year. Leading up to the end of the year and Christmas we ask our school families to donate some festive items to assist Vinnies make their Christmas hampers.
These donations might include: Christmas food, serviettes, wrapping paper, bon bons etc. Consider donating the items that bring joy into your household during this special time of the year.
We ask that the children bring a donation to school by Friday 10th December so that we, once again, support this important cause.
Thank you for your continuous spirit of giving.
